Robert Opatovský was born on the 25 th of December 1971 in Trnava, where he went
to primary school. In 1986 he passed the practical music exams at Conservatory in
Bratislava, specialising in classical guitar. His mentor was concert leader Jozef Zsapka.
After graduation Robert started singing and took private singing classes with jazz
singer Adriana Bartošová. In 1993 he auditioned for the Army Artistic Ensemble where,
during his one year`s compulsory military service, he sang with Big Band VUS, conducted
by B. Trnečka and by V. Valovič.
After military service, he concentrated on improving his singing and for several
years sang in various musical formations at home and abroad. In 1996 he started working
with the poruction trio Lubo „umelec“ Priehradník, Berco Balogh and Jozef Gregor.
The songs „Heartbreaker“ and „It Doesn`t Matter...“ grew out of their collaboration.
In 1997 Darina Rolincová introducet him to her producer Daniel Hadl and together
with him Robert signed a three – album deal with BMG Ariola.
Robert`s first album, called „Robert Opatovský“, was published soon after, and his
second album, „Nebol som zlý“ was released a year later. After ending his co-operation
with Daniel Hadl, Robert signed a new tree album deal with Universal Music and in
2000 his third album, „Pravá tvár“, was released.
Threoughout 2002-2003, Robert divided his time between Japan and Slovakia.
During his stay in Japan he collected enough material to release his fourth album, 2003`s
„Prílev energie“. The album was produced by Vrabec guitarist, singer, arranger and
ex – Made 2 Mate member. In March 2005, Robert`s fifth album called „V tom zvláštnom sne“ was published. Robert`s latest – his sixth album – is called „Swing & Latin“
